2008 Goals

In the past I've rarely made goals for the following year. But these past few days, probably due to the fact that my dh has worked fourteen hours a day, I've had some time to evaluate the past year and think about what I'd like to accomplish in 2008. It's scary in some senses for me to list them here, in a pubic place, because it makes me feel more accountable for them. Maybe that's a good thing. So here goes (in no particular order):

  • Participate fully in the Bible Book Club, an online group that is reading through the Bible together in three years.
  • Learn to draw, working through Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain with my dd and with a few online friends
  • Search for, identify, and write for specific venues and markets
  • Finish the novel I wrote in 2006
  • Gather information and sources for making decisions on renovations, cabin, using land
  • Do the work (with help of experts)!
  • Stay within budget for developing the land we've just bought and have fun doing it!
  • Write in blog regularly, journaling all I learn doing the above three items, especially
  • Develop friendships with women in my international Bible study
  • Exercise more, preferably doing it while accomplishing something else, like mowing the grass, planting trees, gardening, walking with dh or friends
  • Read more, listen more, write more
  • Practice the presence of God
  • Be thankful
  • Go through drawers, closets, and cupboards and eliminate and simplify (get rid of stuff!)

(I reserve the right to add to this and edit it in the next 2- 3 days!)

Great goals! :) When LP is back up, I'll post my goals for 2008. I also have a drawing to scan and post. Oh! That reminds me -- before you do the first lesson in the book, you should do a self-portrait. That's the first assignment on the video, and it gives you something by which to measure your growth. I'm pretty sure the book and video both have a self-portrait assignment at the end for comparison. When I started drawing mine, I kept thinking, "I'm not good at this. I can't draw well." But somewhere in the middle of drawing, I realized, "I'm going to learn how to draw!!" And it excited and energized me.
