For ten years we lived in the country about an hour from here. Soon after we moved there we met another family who homeschooled and we began a co-op. Our two families are very close; our children roamed the woods and pretty much lived at each other's houses as they grew up. Today we drove up for a crawfish boil with them. Crawfish abound here in Louisiana and Louisianans know how to eat well. Here's a crawfish close-up.

Here the guys are dumping the crawfish in the boiling water and seasonings. They're cooked with corn and new potatoes.

After they're cooked, the crawfish, corn, and potatoes are dumped on tables covered in newspapers.

And we eat and enjoy.

Umm, are the crawfish, you know, alive when you cook them? Uggh. I think they are. I just couldn't do that. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. I just don't think I could.
This brings back memories of crawfish boils in my hometown. Fun times!

Do they taste anything like shrimp? I know we had them growing up in TX, but it's been so long I forget. Seafood is something I desparately want to enjoy, but generally don't! ::deep sigh:: I do like shrimp, though!
I love the pictures.
This looks like fun. I've never eaten crawfish.
